Here is what the MD had to say in 2009 when he was asked for a little description of history with the Fairview:
““My father bought the Fairview Hotel in 1946 as a running hotel. There was one main double storey building constructed in stone with 30 bedrooms and 5 old houses (annexes) constructed in wood and corrugated iron, each on a base of a stone plinth. None of the bedrooms had their own bathroom, wash hand basin, toilet or telephone. The laundry was a corrugated iron shed and washing was done by hand. The hotel was not on the sewer. There was no car park. The present main car park was a tennis court. I started working in the hotel on the 1st March 1955 and over time, carried out improvements.
My daughter joined me in the early 90’s after hotel school in Switzerland. A few years later her husband joined us from the Hilton. And then in 1997 my son also joined from Wall Street. We have become a real family-run business”
