The Fairview Hotel MD has always been in the pursuit of quality. His father was the entrepreneur and bought 9 hotels. He did not, however, have the passion for managing these properties. He lft the nitty gritty to his son to sort out the mess! Well, by 1988, the MD sold all hotels, reduced debt to zero and picked one hotel to make world class- the Fairview. the rest is as they say, history! To the left is the City Council Approval for the Construction.
The hotels that were once part of the group:
1. Caledonian Hotel (Dennis Pritt Rd Nairobi); Bought 1945, sold 1951
2. Westfield Hotel (Likoni – Mombasa); 1949, sold 1956
3. Parklands Private Hotel; Bought 1940, sold 1960. The MD’s father initially lease the building for £50 per month.
4. Kisumu Hotel; Bought 1944, sold 1967
5. Gaylord Hotel; Bought 1964, sold 1970
6. Hurlingham Hotel; Bought 1943, sold 1974
