Fairview Hotel Staff Love to Work Hard and PLay Hard

Some of our staff trips are very casual, but others have team building activites. This trip, in late 2004, had lots of team activites. Its amazing how some members of one department don’t know members of other departments. The Malewa trip addressed this issue!

Fairview’s Mukutan Garden Cafe is a hit

Fairview recently launched a new cafe and the feedback has been fantastic. A write-up in a local magazine is attached (see PDF format Travel News article)

High Speed Internet Connection in Various Rooms

In 2004, we successfully renovated 30 rooms installing new bathrooms, furniture, larger beds and a number of other improvements. In addition, some of these rooms have been wired with a high speed (always-on) internet connection available for a marginal additional cost. Please inquire with reservations if you are interested in booking a room with this service.

High Speed internet connections in all conference rooms

All conference rooms now have a high-speed internet connection as well as wi-fi access”. Contact banqueting@fairviewkenya.com for more details.

Behind-the-scenes operational improvements:

Fairview maintenance gets even better! With 5 acres, 107 rooms, 13 apartments, 3 conference rooms, a gym and 3 restaurants, there is a great deal of maintaining to do. Maintenance used to be managed by reporting maintenance needs on the phone and then tracking these maintenance requests in Microsoft Word- an cumbersome and inefficient system for all. We recently installed a new computer system where requests are entered into a computer system. The results have been tremendous allowing us to continue to ensure that our well maintained hotel continues to be one of our competitive advantages.

Great Staff Event in the Rift Valley

Fairview Hotel Staff Enjoy Nyama Choma in Maasai Country

Fairview Hotel Staff Enjoy Nyama Choma in Maasai Country

Staff motivation is key in any company. For us, one of the elements of this plan is staff trips. We like to do 3-4 a year.

45 mins from Nairobi is a place for the intrepid traveler! On 16 May, 2004, over the edge of the Rift Valley and into Maasai land we went. Goats were slaughtered and we partied in true Kenyan style!

Next major project brings wi-fi, an executive lounge, and a new high-end dining alternative:

We have begun the renovation of our dining room and lounge and construction will be complete in March 2005. This project will bring both a top-end Restaurant specializing in Seafood and Meats and an executive lounge. Moreover, we are rolling out a wi-fi network and already many rooms and public areas offer wi-fi so please check with Reception for more details!
